Contest Winner Announcement

Final Judge: Timothy Steele

Able Muse is pleased to announce the winner of the Book Award for a poetry manuscript, judged anonymously by the final judge, Timothy Steele

A message from the judge, Timothy Steele:

For the first time ever, the only reader for the contest was the final judge, who read each and every entry to decide on the winner. Here’s his message to all contestants (a first for the contest):

"Judging the 2024 Able Muse Book Contest was hard. So many of the approximately 150 entries delighted or moved me, yet only one could win. Another source of difficulty was the wide range of forms and subjects represented in the submissions. I often felt that I was comparing manuscripts that weren’t comparable. While authors who didn’t win may be disappointed, I encourage one and all to continue to practice the art of poetry. Few things are as challenging as writing well. Time and again, in their different and unique ways, the poets in this contest met this challenge. I salute them gratefully."—Timothy Steele
